Body of Bee
It was the first attempt of my musical work in a workshop. In 2017, the Black Mountain College 50th Anniversary Workshop, at which John Dewey, Joseph Albus and John Cage were professors, took place at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design. I have applied a teaching method of Joseph Albus to practice. I also traced an object (organism) "bee" from realistic to abstract. Then I divided shapes from the drawn pictures, broke them down and sorted them. The repeated lines and shapes became signs. I recognized the possibility that the signs or all parts of the bee could act as a single note. The characters were reassembled in various ways to create a "bee body" for triangular, square and circular drums in shapes. This score can be played by anyone; even from someone who has never learned to play a note.
